The Genesis Vagabond is a monstercross bike in the loosest sense of the term; the illegitimate lovechild of a road and mountain bike, a 'frankenbike' that has long been the staple of shed tinkerers, the result of many an experimental 'I wonder if…' spare parts box builds.
The late, great Steve Worland summed them up nicely as "…the perfect cross-dresser for those long, steady rides that encompass a bit of everything." Tourer, commuter, ruffty tuffy road bike, the Vagabond will happily turn it's hand to most disciplines with as much as a simple tyre swap. With groupset boundaries becoming ever more blurred, Genesis have been able to upgrade the bar end shifters to integrated brake/shift levers for a cleaner look and better ergonomics.

About the BrandGenesis have a simple philosophy – To bring to life the sorts of bikes which they love. Luckily for them their taste has proved very popular. Though they’re not the biggest out there, their size does afford them a few risks; namely to push through bikes that bigger companies might deem too fringe or oddball to ever grace their range. If they enjoy riding it and think there’ll be enough folks out there that will too, then its fair game in their eyes! Genesis have proved themselves to be sticklers for detail, going to the nth degree to try and wring out every last bit of performance whilst keeping things accessible. Materials snobs they are not, and, depending on what’s best for given bike and intended usage you’ll find carbon, Titanium, steel and Aluminium all used across the range to good effect.
