Let us first welcome you to Run & Ride, well our website anyway. We hope you notice that we’re not some big corporate giant but instead a very professional medium sized company based in Staffordshire right on Cannock Chase. The business is run by cycling, running, walking; well outdoor sports enthusiasts. We all have a true passion for the outdoor and we feel that this always transfers into how we operate the business. We don’t just talk shop we get out there and enjoy it and it's this that's so important when dealing with you the customer. You see because we have a genuine passion for the sports. We are able to offer knowledgeable and honest advice, not just what we’ve read in a booklet.

The brands we stock such as Scott, Cannondale, Whyte, Frog, Genesis, Garmin, OTE, Madison are in the store because we love their products. We've been out and tested them or we own products from them ourselves. Tried and tested and guess what if they fail we stop using them and we stop selling them!

Please have a look around the site. We hope you like it. You'll find products from a number of big brands but you'll also find products from a few smaller lesser known ones too such as Spokesman clothing, Accelerade nutrition and Ginger & French gifts and cards. You’ll also notice we've tried to make the experience as good and simple as possible therefore we've included "click and collect", online finance option so you can do all the paperwork from your own home. We also have a fantastic customer rewards program to support those who support us.

Finally we'd like to touch on our pricing policy. We understand that we need to be competitive therefore we offer a price match policy on hundreds of items. It's really simple, just click on the option on the page and send us the details. Couldn't be easier.

Well we'll leave it there for now. Once again thank you for visiting our store and we hope you enjoy your experience. And please remember if you have any questions then feel free to ask.

Now in it's 4th year the 2016 Scott Sports Dirty Dozen will be bigger, tougher and more muddy than ever before. Trail running is becoming more and more popular over recent times and Cannock Chase is the perfect location for some muddy fun on natural trails.

The runners absolutely loved the course we put together for the 2016 event. We got so many people asking us to keep the same course for the 2017 event so that's what we've done... Saying that there might be a couple of surprises! So that means the "Ditch Of Doom" stays, but we are making a few changes so that course is more fun than ever, more of an adventure than ever and more spectator friendly than ever.

Don't expect any walls to climb over or barbed wire to go under. No boring grass farmers fields…. This is a "Trail Run" we use one of the best and most beautiful areas in the country filled with fantastic natural trails that make the area such a destination site.

Here what some of the previous competitors said

~ quite simply the best trail running event in the area. So much fun and I never even knew those trails even existed ~

~ fun, friendly and fierce. A 12km run to remember ~

~  love this event! challenging and fun terrain, the hills the trails and even a dip in the water – perfect to let your hair down and just run ~

~ flat, dry, short, easy run…. NOT ~

~ fantastic event, can#t wait until next year. Again! Again! ~

~ really enjoyed the run. Felt a bit apprehensive when we arrived as i thought it might not suit me as a slower runner but I will definitely be back and will be recommending it ~

Expect to be tested, pushed to the limit but above all else expect to enjoy yourself.

Popular in 2016 the races for younger runners continue in 2017. They deserve to be part of the event and it gives the whole family a chance to have a go. For 14-16 (3.2km) / 12-14 (1km) / Under 12's (1km) All will receive a little price on completion.

As before you can compete as a solo runner or as part of a 4 runner team The team can be made up of all male / female / mixed runners, you'll get an overall time and position as well as a team time and position. We always have plenty of teams that come along made up from a group of friends, club, workplace etc etc.

Car parking is free. The car park is about a 5 minute walk from the start finish area

Please follow the signage from Penkridge Bank to the car park area. From there you will be directed to the start / finish arena. We recommend that you arrive at this area at least 30 minutes before the start of the event. There will be a secure bag storage area for you to leave clothing / keys etc. Spend some time and warm up before the start and make sure you wear suitable clothing for winter conditions. The start area can get quite windy so a windproof jacket and full length bottoms are recommended.

What To Wear For The Event:

Given the time of year we recommend you plan for wet / cold conditions. Last year we experienced rain, hail, wind and sun! To start with trail shoes are a must. It will be wet and slippy throughout the event and trail shoes will give you the best chance of getting grip. Cover the legs with tights or very light track suit bottom. Avoid heavy fleece or cotton bottom as these will just soak up water and make running very hard work. On top we recommend a good base layer with either a highly breathable top for those running quick or a lightweight waterproof for those taking their time. Again try to avoid thick cotton or polyester tops. You don't need to carry any water as you can get this from the water stations around the course. We'd recommend that you don't carry phones or cameras as the course does include areas of deep water. If you do please make sure they are in water proof holders.

    Team Entry:

You can enter the event as a team of 4 runners. There are 3 category’s that you can choose. Either Male Only / Female Only or Mixed Team. First of all one member of the team will need to enter and choose the category. They can then choose to set up and name a team. Once complete each member can then enter and join the chosen team.

During the event you can either run as a team or on your own. We will be awarding a prize (sent out to the team captain after the event) for each category plus spot prizes chosen by our marshals on who's having the most fun, working as a team and doesn't wimp out at the water.

We understand that friends and family may wish to come along and watch you suffer. Therefore we've done our best to keep the course as close to the start / finish arena as possible.
