Let us first welcome you to Run & Ride, well our website anyway. We hope you notice that we’re not some big corporate giant but instead a very professional medium sized company based in Staffordshire right on Cannock Chase. The business is run by cycling, running, walking; well outdoor sports enthusiasts. We all have a true passion for the outdoor and we feel that this always transfers into how we operate the business. We don’t just talk shop we get out there and enjoy it and it's this that's so important when dealing with you the customer. You see because we have a genuine passion for the sports. We are able to offer knowledgeable and honest advice, not just what we’ve read in a booklet.

The brands we stock such as Scott, Cannondale, Whyte, Frog, Genesis, Garmin, OTE, Madison are in the store because we love their products. We've been out and tested them or we own products from them ourselves. Tried and tested and guess what if they fail we stop using them and we stop selling them!

Please have a look around the site. We hope you like it. You'll find products from a number of big brands but you'll also find products from a few smaller lesser known ones too such as Spokesman clothing, Accelerade nutrition and Ginger & French gifts and cards. You’ll also notice we've tried to make the experience as good and simple as possible therefore we've included "click and collect", online finance option so you can do all the paperwork from your own home. We also have a fantastic customer rewards program to support those who support us.

Finally we'd like to touch on our pricing policy. We understand that we need to be competitive therefore we offer a price match policy on hundreds of items. It's really simple, just click on the option on the page and send us the details. Couldn't be easier.

Well we'll leave it there for now. Once again thank you for visiting our store and we hope you enjoy your experience. And please remember if you have any questions then feel free to ask.

    Run and Ride

    Hednesford Lichfield

Tuesday road rides leave from outside of the Hednesford shop at 6.30pm.
This is a social road ride that lasts around 1.5 hours. We cover a varied route at around an 18-19mph average. Anyone is welcome buy please come equipped with all the obvious gear. Helmet, lights, appropriate clothing & spares, something to drink...and obviously your bike!

Sunday road rides leave from outside of the Lichfield shop at 9am.
Average speed of the ride is 16-17mph and makes use of some of the best cycling lanes in the area whilst still hitting the odd big climb! Average mileage is around 50 miles and as with all of our rides we'll be sure not to leave anyone behind! We don't have a cafe stop as such, instead we prefer to complete the ride and return to the shop where you can get a cuppa if you wish! Everyone is welcome and the only thing that we ask is that you're bike is in a suitable condition, you carry spares and you;re happy to ride at the pace of the group (no 'dropping the hammer' and thrashing off into the distance!).

Saturday trail runs leave from outside of the Hednesford shop at 9am
Join us each saturday for an off road run over Cannock Chase. Regardless of whether you're a regular runner or not, we aim to make the run sensible for all. Led by one of our supported athletes, the run comprises of a 3.5 mile circuit started and returning at the shop. Pace for the lap will be as slow as the slowest runner, meaning nobody gets left behind. For many, 1 lap is enough, whilst the more enthusiastic runners can complete more laps at a slightly higher pace. Attendees are asked to bring along with them a bag of enthusiasm and a smile, and any under 18's need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Wednesday road runs leave from outside of the Lichfield shop at 6.30pm.
Our mid-week runs are varied in both pace and route. We usually choose between a steady 5k or quickish 10k's. As always, everyone is welcome!

Run & Ride Events would like to invite you along to help celebrate our 3rd Birthday. As we've done in the past this we will once again be organizing a Road Sportive. For our 2015 Summer event we have chosen to support Staffordshire Search and Rescue who do great work in the area.

Unlike many other events we donate all proceeds after costs to the charity meaning they benefit as much as possible and get to put the money to good use.

Our events are quite relaxed and social. We encourage new comers and established riders alike to come and have a go.

This non-competitive event will take riders through the local lanes around Cannock Chase taking in some of our favorite routes on Sunday 6th September 2015. The ride starts from outside the Run & Ride (Hednesford) shop and will head out following a fully signed course, finishing back at the store where drinks and cake will be provided.

We've then included some of the more challenging hills in the area as recommended by local riders. Once you've completed these you'll head back towards HQ with the final climb bringing you over Cannock Chase to master.

The Winter Classic event has come and gone. On the day we had high winds, rain, hail, snow, lots of mud and big smiles from riders young and old.

The event sold out with some of the male categories selling out 2 months before the event so please consider this if you plan on entering.

Also following the Winter event we've had a few riders request that we split the "Fat Bike and Single Speed categoires which we have now done.

Anyway on with the event details

Held as before on the popular area of Cannock Chase the event will once again be focused more towards the newbie or fun rider. At Run and Ride we really want to support the grass routes of mountain biking.

So what has changed for 2015? Well nothing really. The format works!! With First Timers category has now gone and instead replaced with "Beginners" Please before you enter this category ask yourself is this the right race for you. If you are fit and like and have any inclination to chase Strava times then this is not the right category for you. The Fun class is the next category up for those who may of raced before but want to just enjoy it and not really worry about how quick they are. Enthusiast is for the guys who race a fair bit, spend al lot of time training and generally rip round. Not really a category for Elite riders.

Worth a mention is that we've kept with the new U8's category alongside the already popular U10's and U13's races. These have proved to be a massive success at every race we do. So much of a success that we simple can't time them well enough so we've had to reduce the entry size per race. If you have children who fit into this age group and enjoy riding their bike then we highly recommend you enter them.

We want to encourage more women to give racing a chance, therefore entry prices start at just £6.00!!!

The Singlespeed and Fat Bike categories are here once again for 2015.

Another question that kept coming up was are we going to offer National Ranking Points. We understand that for hardcore racers offering points was an attraction but goes away from what we want to achieve by putting on these races, ie affordable racing suitable for fun and newcomers. We still offer categories for those hardcore racers and the prizes are still great but ranking points are just not what the events are about

    Category Breakdown

We want close competitive racing and therefore urge everybody to consider which category is best for them. There is no pride to be gained from entering a race that you are cleary too good for. Please please enter the race that suits your fitness level

Beginner - As the name sugests this race is for new comers, cycling beginners and first time racers. Your level of fitness will be average, racing for you will be about having ago, enjoying the experience rather than if you will win

Fun - For those who ride a couple of times a week and have a reasonable level of fitness. You enjoy riding but don't take your performance too serious. You'll of most likely raced a couple of times before but wouldn't of finished in the top 5 / 10 in a midlands events. If you have ridden one of our events before and finished in the top 10 in this category then it's time to move up.

Enthusiast - You are an avid rider and racer and will do a number of hours on the bike each week. Strava is your 2nd best freind and you are performance minded. Saying this you aren't at the peak of the sport If you ride towards the top level in Expert (Mids or National) or as an Elite then this isn't the event for you sorry.

    Race Timing

Timing's are taken on the day, providing a professional service which includes making results available for everybody quickly after their race / overall event.

     The Course - Enter Here

As for the course, expect a real mountain bike course. What do we mean by that? Well plenty of nice techy, but fast flowing single track. and some lung busting climbs mixed up with a few fire road sections. As with all our events we try to create a few new sections with the backing from the Forestry Commission ready for the event. If you are a newcomer don't be put off by the "real mountain bike" talk. Our course are 100% ride able by all levels and we don't put anything too dangerous in the course, plus anywhere that has a difficult section in will have a 'chicken route' alternative. The course will be around 5 / 6km in length and take an average of 20mins (Top riders) 30mins (first timers) to complete. The course will be similar to one used for the Winter classic but small changes to make it different and interesting.

If you are nervous about the course then why not book a skills session with Chase Skills who will help you prepare for any technical aspects of the course.
