Let us first welcome you to Run & Ride, well our website anyway. We hope you notice that we’re not some big corporate giant but instead a very professional medium sized company based in Staffordshire right on Cannock Chase. The business is run by cycling, running, walking; well outdoor sports enthusiasts. We all have a true passion for the outdoor and we feel that this always transfers into how we operate the business. We don’t just talk shop we get out there and enjoy it and it's this that's so important when dealing with you the customer. You see because we have a genuine passion for the sports. We are able to offer knowledgeable and honest advice, not just what we’ve read in a booklet.

The brands we stock such as Scott, Cannondale, Whyte, Frog, Genesis, Garmin, OTE, Madison are in the store because we love their products. We've been out and tested them or we own products from them ourselves. Tried and tested and guess what if they fail we stop using them and we stop selling them!

Please have a look around the site. We hope you like it. You'll find products from a number of big brands but you'll also find products from a few smaller lesser known ones too such as Spokesman clothing, Accelerade nutrition and Ginger & French gifts and cards. You’ll also notice we've tried to make the experience as good and simple as possible therefore we've included "click and collect", online finance option so you can do all the paperwork from your own home. We also have a fantastic customer rewards program to support those who support us.

Finally we'd like to touch on our pricing policy. We understand that we need to be competitive therefore we offer a price match policy on hundreds of items. It's really simple, just click on the option on the page and send us the details. Couldn't be easier.

Well we'll leave it there for now. Once again thank you for visiting our store and we hope you enjoy your experience. And please remember if you have any questions then feel free to ask.

Now in it's 5th year, Run & Ride Events are proud to present the 2017 Winter Warmer Road Sportive.

One of the longest running cycling sportive’s in the area we focus our efforts into making the events relaxed and social. We encourage new comers and established riders alike to come and have a go. The route is challenging but suitable for all. You don't need to be an experienced rider to take part in the event. Friendly, rolling terrain, good atmosphere…. all round great start to the year!

This non-competitive event will take riders through the local lanes around Cannock Chase and surrounding villages. The ride starts from outside the Run & Ride (Hednesford) shop and will head out following a fully signed course, finishing back at the store where hot / cold drinks and homemade cake will be provided.

For 2016 the entry fee has been reduced to only:

    £10 for 60mile route
    £8 for 35mile route

On the day entries will be available (subject to availability) with a surcharge of £5

    - Price includes entry
    - Free Parking (400 metres from signing on)
    - Feed station (60m route)
    - Free Refreshments After Event
    - Photos

The route will focus on taking in some of the roads we love to ride ourselves. Based mainly on back roads & small lanes where ride ourselves. I’m sure you are like us and love to get away from the traffic of the busy roads. Heading out you’ll find the split for the 35m / 60 mile route at the bottom of the first hill. Whilst the 35m route heads left for a flat start the 60m route climbs from the start. With a challenging loop around Longdon, Chorly and over towards Lichfield before making it’s way back over towards Rugeley where the 35m / 60m route comes back together. Near this point you’ll find our happy helpers with drink and food for you to stock up on ready for the remainder of the ride. A few more miles of rolling hills around the back of Rugeley and Blithfield before the course takes a turn towards home. As with all our routes we finish with some testing climbs up and over Cannock Chase. Camp road is a favourite (for some) and this is what faces you before the final push for home, a rest and a nice piece of cake and hot drink to help with the recovery.

Naturally given the time of year the weather isn’t going to be at it’s best. We recommend you give some good thought to your clothing requirements and bike set up. It’s always best to plan for the worst and then if it turns out better then you can remove items of clothing to suit. In our clothing kit list we would have

    - Over shoes

    - Warm socks

    - Good wind proof / shower proof gloves

    - Tights / leggings with a chamois or under shorts

    - Good cold weather base layer

    - Long sleeved jersey, ideally made with a thermal material

    - Wind proof / water proof lightweight jacket, even if it’s not raining pack tis in your back pocket

    - Under helmet thin thermal beanie

Always good to winterize your bike as much as you can. Keeps you dry and clean as well as others if you’re riding in a group. We recommend

    - Good puncture proof tires such as Continental Gator skins or Schwalbe Durano’s. Fit 25mm or 28mm if you can.

    - Get some good mud guards fitted. The traditional ones are the best but if you don’t have connection point or clearance try the new Crud RaceGuard Mk 3

    - Generally the winter miles can be hard on the drive chain. Do a regular check and replace worn parts so they don’t fail when your out.

    - Carry 2 tubes and make sure you’ve got good tyre levers and an easy efficient pump.

Should you need any help or advise then please feel free to ask any member of the team at Run & Ride. They will give you honest good advise.
